  1. Dynamic assessment is a way to measure a child's learning potential rather than a student's static level of achievement. I believe that it is more valuable to measure student learning through dynamic assessment because this provides a more positive twist to assessment. By looking at a child's learning potential, we are showing the child what they can do right versus what they may have done wrong.

If I were to be teaching vocabulary words, I would tell the students what we were going to learn, why this is important in their week/future, and then show them a word and have the students define it for me. This would be a short dynamic assessment because I would be telling the student what they will be capable of doing at the end of the lesson, and then I show them they are capable.

  2. 1. Dynamic assessment is the systematic examination of how readily and in what ways a student can acquire new knowledge or skills, usually with adult assistance or some other form of scaffolding.
    2. I do not think dynamic assessment is more valuable necessarily, but I feel that incorporating it with other methods makes the overall process more valuable.
    3. I plan to use scaffolding to assess group work in my science class. As I learn my class more in depth, it will help me to become a better teacher for my students.

    Great questions!
