QTC Ch. 10

1. What is vicarious reinforcement?  Give the definition.

2. What would be a positive vicarious reinforcement example that you have seen within your classroom?  If you have not seen this, create an example (a positive one).

3 comments:

  1. 1. Phenomenon in which a response increases in frequency when another person is observed being reinforced for that response.

    2. Example: John sees that Philip got a better grade on his poster board assignment. The teacher specifically noted that he did better than the rest of the class because it was so neatly organized. John learns that his work should be much neater and gains better grades on his projects the rest of the semester.

  2. 1. Vicarious reinforcement takes place when a child sees someone being reinforced for a particular behavior, which causes them to perform that behavior more often themselves.

2.An example of positive vicarious reinforcement would be a brother seeing his older sister getting to buy things with her own money, making him wanting to save up his money so that he can buy his own stuff one day.

    1. Oopps my example, was not one for within the classroom lol let's try this one...

A child sees their friend getting higher and higher on the AR point board, causing them to want to read more so that they will be able to go higher and higher on the AR point board.
