I did my first Teaching Project from content in this chapter!
I found a large part of the content really interesting. I was introduced to all the different theories of learning. In reading the descriptions on page 181, I think I most agree with the Social Cognitive Theory. It considers both behaviors and cognitive processes when explaining how students learn. The two that I think I like the least would be Piaget's theory of cognitive development and Information Processing Theory. For Piaget's, I guess it was more that I was confused by it, rather than I don't like it. Saying children construct rather than absorb is a weird concept to me. I get the whole assimilation/accommodation thing, but I think saying these are the only two processes through which students learn would be incorrect. In terms of Information Processing Theory, I don't like that it minimizes student's learning from the environment. I think environmental factors and observations play a large and vital part in how, what, and how much children learn and comprehend.
In one of my psychology classes last semester, we spent an entire unit on memory, so much of this content was largely review for me. I enjoyed connecting those facts and that knowledge to what I'm learning in here.
