1. What is the difference between problem-based learning and project-based learning? (understanding)
2. What is a project-based learning activity that could be used in your classroom and how will incorporate the content into real-world tasks? (create, evaluate)
1. Both problem-based learning and project-based learning involve authentic activities. The main difference lies in that problem-based learning is based on a complex problem, whereas project-based learning requires a more complex project -- something that will result in a physical product. This question is an excellent lower-level question. I would even consider categorizing it in the 'analyze' portion based on my response (interrelationships).
ReplyDelete2. A project-based learning activity in geometry would be to create a city design using properties involving slope, perpendicular lines, angle pairs, angle measures, etc. This may give students a new perspective on creation in the real-world. They will have guidelines about properties to include, but will be given the freedom to choose the layout, types of buildings, parks, rivers, etc. This is definitely on the 'creation' level of Bloom's taxonomy.
